Our Mission

My name is James Amodei, and I’m a 29-year-old with a Nonverbal Learning Disability (NVLD), working to support myself by sharing something I truly love: the game of baseball. I created XBH Brain Gear to connect fellow players and fans with meaningful memorabilia while building a life of independence and purpose.

At XBH Brain Gear, we believe baseball is a thinking game—and thinking differently is a strength. “XBH” stands for Extra Base Hit, which in baseball means turning a single into a double or more. It’s about going the extra mile, making the most of every opportunity, and pushing beyond limits—just like I strive to do every day.

“Brain Gear” represents both the collectible baseball hats I sell and the mental side of the game—focus, strategy, and love for detail. My unique way of thinking helps me notice the little things that matter, whether it’s a rare piece of memorabilia or the story behind it.

Through this business, I’m not only supporting myself—I’m also giving back. A portion of every sale helps support kids with learning differences, giving them opportunities to build confidence, express themselves, and discover their own strengths through sports and creativity.
